It's Official...Doc Band it is!

Well it is official...today we took Paityn to be fitted and have her DSI (digital imaging) done for her Doc Band.  Every since she was about 2 months we noticed it seemed that the right back side of her head was a little flat and that her right cheek seemed so much bigger than the left. Well over time things to us were not looking any better. So since things were not improving, Matt and I took Paityn to Cranial Technologies in Austin about a month ago for an evaluation. During the evaluation the clinician took several images of Paityn's head/upper body and showed us how a Doc Band could help fix things. A Doc Band is custom made to fit a baby's head and it allows the head to grow in a way to reshape and fix flattened areas. Since Paityn was born she has had muscle tightness in her left side of her neck therefore she has always favored the right side of her head. We always did tummy time, laying on her sides, and turning her head to the left...but she always favored the right. Due to being born early, being a twin, and the muscle tightness in her neck...this contributed to her head developing a flat spot. So for the last month we debated on what to do. We decided to go ahead and get Paityn a Doc Band to help reshape her flattened area on her head. The flattened area does not affect her in any way or affect her brain development, it just makes her head shape a little off. Paityn will get her Doc Band in 2 weeks... and should only have to wear it 2 to 3 months :) We have several friends who's kids have had Doc Bands and they say it is the best thing they ever did! Also, we were showed how to do stretches to help the tightness in her neck improve too.
